Here come the pumpkin orange Halloween candy jars<\/strong>, crocheted with our Asian<\/strong><\/a> yarn. With these simple \u2018spooky\u2019 covers you can decorate jars, glasses, mugs, and any kind of can you have around the house. We have made them in two standard sizes<\/strong>, large and small, but you can easily adapt them to the measurements of the cans you will use.<\/p>\n

To make the project you will need<\/p>\n

\"\"How much yarn:<\/span> Asian yarn, 1 ball for each of the following two colors: orange and black.
\nHook:<\/span> a 4.50mm crochet hook
\nSewing needle:<\/span> yarn needle with rounded point
\nOther items:<\/span> black felt; fabric glue<\/p>\n

The stitches we will use instead will be<\/p>\n

  • Using crochet hook: chain (ch); slip stitch (sl st); double crochet (dc).
    \nRidge double crochet back: work 1 dc inserting hook into back loop only of previous row (= 1 RdcB).<\/li>\n
  • Using needle: stem stitch and straight stitch for embroidery.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Make covers<\/strong><\/h3>\n
    Small jar, 7cm in diameter
    \n<\/strong><\/h5>\n

    With crochet hook and orange yarn work a magic ring.
    \n1st round:<\/strong> 6 dc into this ring, end with a ss into first st. Pull yarn to close ring.
    \n2nd round:<\/strong> inc 1 st (= 2 dc into same st) in each st of previous round, end with a ss into first st (= 12 dc).<\/p>\n

    3rd round:<\/strong> * inc 1 st, 1 dc; rep from * all round, end with a ss into first st (= 18 dc).
    \n4th round:<\/strong> * inc 1 st, 2 dc; rep from * all round, end with a ss into first st (= 24 dc).
    \n5th round:<\/strong> * inc 1 st, 3 dc; rep from * all round, end with a ss into first st (= 30 dc).
    \n6th round:<\/strong> * inc 1 st, 4 dc; rep from * all round, end with a ss into first st (= 36 dc).<\/p>\n

    7th round:<\/strong> 1 RdcB into each st of previous round.<\/p>\n

    Continue to work round of dc in a continuous spiral (= without ending each round with a ss) for 8cm. Fasten off.<\/p>\n

    Large jar, 9cm in diameter

    Work as Small Jar until the end of round 6. Now, continue as follows.
    \n7th round:<\/strong> * inc 1 st, 5 dc; rep from * all round, end with a ss into first st (= 42 dc).
    \n8th round:<\/strong> 1 RdcB into each st of previous round.
    \nContinue to work round of dc in a continuous spiral (= without ending each round with a ss) for 10cm. Fasten off.<\/p>\n

    Small black circles
    \n<\/strong><\/h5>\n

    Make 2: one for nose on large jar and one for eye on small jar. With crochet hook and black yarn work a magic ring. Now work 8 dc into this ring, end with a ss into first st. Pull yarn to close ring. Fasten off.<\/p>\n

    Large black circles<\/h5>\n

    Make 2 for large jar eyes. With crochet hook and black yarn work a magic ring.
    \n1st round:<\/strong> 8 dc into this ring, end with a ss into first st.
    \n2nd round:<\/strong> inc 1 st (= 2 dc into same st) in each st of previous round (= 16 dc), end with a ss into first st. Pull yarn to close ring. Fasten off.<\/p>\n

    Mouth<\/h5>\n

    With crochet hook and black yarn ch30. Fasten off.<\/p>\n

    Finishing <\/strong>your own candy jar covers<\/strong><\/h2>\n

    With yarn needle and black yarn, sew eyes, nose and mouth on jars, as shown in picture below. For a small jar cut a little triangle from black felt and secure it as nose. Complete Motifs with embroideries in stem stitch and in straight stitch, using black yarn.<\/p>\n
