The perfect yarn guide – SUMMER EDITION

share...

Have you ever ask yourself what is the perfect yarn to make your garnments? We bet you’ve been searching online “which material is the most suitable for..” because you didn’t know which one to use for a pull or a dress, a bikini or an accessory.

Every fiber has its own feature, its benefits and traits which make it better for some type of work and unfavourable for others.  In this mini-guide we will assist you in choosing the right yarn based on the item or garnments you’d like to realize, to make them effective and comfortable especially in summer!

COTTON: thanks to its strenght and freshness, it’s a passepartout for summer clothes and accessories. According to the yarn thickness, cotton may be applied to several projects: the finest ones, as our Cablé 5, are ideal for bikinis, light tops and openwork garnments, while the thickest ones, as our Milo and Nuovo Jaipur, can be used for accesories like hats and bags or more structured garnmets such as skirts, dresses and tops to stay away from the transparencies that would come out with a less thick yarn. Another creative idea to use cotton yarns is to make original bijoux or bookmarks.

LINEN: the ultimate summer yarn, it origins from the flax plant and it mainly consists of cellulose, which makes it durable and valuable. It is defined as a “noble yarn” and has been used since ancient times by the Egyptians, Phoenicians and Romans. Its features are breathability, lightness as well as sustainability: being a vegetable fiber, linen is ecological, natural and doesn’t need irrigation because rainwater is sufficient to the growth. This fiber is ideal for making cover-up, dresses, light cardigans and long dresses, such as our latest pattern, made with Fresh yarn.

SILK: one of the most prestigious materials, silk is known to be a smooth and shiny fiber. It is very versatile and can be applied to various finishes to give a touch of luxury to any garment or accessory. It also efficiently absorbs moisture and helps to regulate body temperature even at high temperatures, keeping skin dry. Silk is ideal for making fine garments such as classy tops and tank tops, evening dresses and elegant accessories. See our selection of garments made with our Silky yarn.

SUGAR CANE VISCOSE: a very particular yarn, known for its “faux-silk” effect, was invented  to find a substitute for silk and reproducing its softness being much cheaper. Thanks to its breathability, shine and elasticity, it is perfect for items such as tops, T-shirts, bikinis or a beautiful bolero like this one made with our Sugar yarn.
