A bright sun enlighted the municipality of Occhiobello (Rovigo, Italy) on November 9th 2025, which the citizens decided to dedicate to the fight against violence on women with the demonstration “The Strength of a Wool Thread”.

A large red heart displayed in the main square of Occhiobello contained the number 1522, the Anti-Violence and Stalking number active throughout Italy. The heart was made up of garments and accessories handcrafted by volunteers of the project thanks to donations from many organizations and companies, including Lana Gatto, which provided many kg of yarn.

The demonstration collected many testimonies both from victims of violence and their families and from local services that operate and help women who ask for help. Thanks to the commitment of the municipality, the authorities, and all the associations that participated in the project, €2,600 will be donated to the Polesine Anti-Violence Center and the Giulia Cecchettin Foundation.

November 25th is the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, established by the UN in 1999 with the aim of raising public awareness of gender-based violence. At Lana Gatto, we are proud to have taken part in the event “The Strength of a Wool Thread” for its powerful and meaningful message, with the hope that every sister, mother, daughter, wife, or partner will be respected and helped in times of need.

We thank the Municipality of Occhiobello for involving us in their project.
