This Spring/Summer wears sparkles, in the evening but especially in the daytime, updating and subverting traditional fashion rules. Let’s make room for brilliant dresses flooded with sequins and glitter, which become the very part of garment and no longer just decoration. The current season rewards classic colors: gold, silver, black. But it also experiments with new bright proposals using warm bronze, aquamarine blue, red, purple, and other gritty tones.
The basic fiber of the two dresses we present is polyester, in the 100% version of classic Paillettes and in the viscose blend version of fashionable Cayman. Indicative instructions for working garments now follow, accompanied by pattern with measurements.
DRAPED FRONT DRESS
Size: to fit UK 10 – US 6 – EU 36
Skill level: intermediate
How much yarn
9 balls (each ball 25g and 195m) of Paillettes yarn (100% Polyester) shade no. 8604
A pair of 2.25mm or 2.00mm knitting needles
Yarn needle with rounded point
Stitches
- Stocking stitch (st st): 1 row K (RS), 1 row P (WS)
- Reverse stocking stitch (st st): 1 row P (RS), 1 row K (WS)
Instructions and Finishing
Before starting the work prepare a customize tension (a 15x15cm sample), then on the basis of this calculate stitches and rows necessary to obtain the indicated or desired measurements.
Work Front in reverse stocking st, following the indicated measurements, then work the two parts of Back, always in rev st st. Sew center Back seam, joining the two parts. Then sew Front-and-Back side seams from lower edge until to armholes, leaving the armholes free. Work two stripes in stocking stitch, as long as necessary to finish the opening sides of Back. For each one, cast on 8 or 10 sts. Fold each stripe in half and sew across the opening side (half part outside and half part inside), to create the finishing border. Work other two stripes in stocking stitch, 55cm long plus the length necessary to finish each armhole at the same manner. For each one, cast on 8 or 10 sts. Now complete dress. Start at one side of back opening, take a stripe and leave 33cm free (lace closing the back opening). Folding stripe in half, sew across back upper edge, leave 10cm free for shoulder strap and continue to sew across the whole armhole, thus joining the Back to the Front: curling it slightly at the side of the Front drapery. Take other stripe and join it in the same manner on opposite side, from Back upper edge to Front armhole, before drapery.

SLIP DRESS
Size: to fit UK 10 – US 6 – EU 36
Skill level: intermediate
How much yarn
4 balls (each ball 50g and 190m) of Cayman yarn (80% Viscose, 20% Metallized Polyester) shade no. 30430
A pair of 4.00mm knitting needles
Yarn needle with rounded point
Stitches
- Stocking stitch
- Tubular stitch
Instructions and Finishing
Before starting the work prepare a customize tension (a 15x15cm sample), then on the basis of this calculate stitches and rows necessary to obtain the indicated or desired measurements.
Work in stocking st the Back, the Front and both Cups separately, as shown in pattern, following the indicated measurements. Sew Cups to Front, then sew side seams up to first 5cm of each cup. Cast on 4 sts and work a narrow strip as long as necessary to finish the Cups and the Back, then sew it RS (right side) against RS, so that the purl part (wrong side) is on right side: this will form a rolled finishing border. For each Strap, cast on approx 8/10 sts and work 40cm in tubular st, then cast off. Fasten Straps to the tip of each Cup and, in correspondence, on the Back.
