Slanting square crochet motif – Your eco-friendly blanket

share...

Let’s create a precious crochet blanket together! We have already worked the first three motifs, a couple with heart/star motifs, a two-tone weaved motif, and a waffle motif. Now, we take My Earth yarn in brown and cream shades and let’s learn the slanting square crochet stitch together. Groups of trebles alternate with double crochet and interchange in an original two-color check texture. Motif always measures 10×10cm. So, let’s get going!

With 3.00mm crochet hook and brown yarn, ch35 and, starting from 4th ch from hook, work as follows:
row 1: 2 treble (tr) into next ch, miss 2 chains, 1 dc into next ch; * ch3, 1 tr into each of next 3 chains, miss 3 chains, 1 dc into next ch; rep from * to end. Turn.

Row 2: using brown yarn, ch3 (= 1 tr), 2 tr into next tr, 1 dc into 3rd ch of previous row, *ch3, 3 tr into ch3-arch of previous row, 1 dc into 3rd ch of previous row; rep from * to end. Turn.
Rep row 2 throughout, following diagram below and changing color on next and every alternate row, i.e. alternating brown and cream yarns.

When 10 rows have been worked, to obtain a more straight edge, work last row following diagram, then fasten off. Keep Motifs.
