How many times, finished a knitted or a crochet work, you said: “I save this yarn scrap, sooner or later I’ll find the right idea to reuse it.” Well, that moment has arrived! We have prepared, in fact, a selection of cheerful striped crochet ideas. The projects – easy, fun and partly accompanied by short-form videos – are made with our yarns Milo and Fresh, 100% cotton and 100% linen respectively. All you have to do is choose the color sequence, add the tools and the few materials that you lack and start creating!
Bags and accessories, the essentials to carry with you!
The projects are 5 practical accessories, indispensable for the current season. Just a few grams of cotton and linen yarn scraps in the desired colors, a crochet, stitch markers, snap fasteners, a carabiner (or snap-hook), a zip fastener in the same color and as long as necessary, two bamboo handles and a little amount of fabric stiffener are enough to create mobile and tablet cases and different types of bags!
Striped crochet ideas for device cases
Mobile-phone case. Use Milo yarn and a 3.25mm crochet hook. Measurements are: 9cm in width, 15cm in height, 6cm x 6cm closing strip.
Ch17 and, starting from 2nd ch from hook, make 1 dc in each ch until to last ch, 3 dc into last ch and continue to work 1 dc into each st on the opposite side, working 3 dc into last st. If you need help, see the next two short-form videos (we use a stitch marker to mark the first or last stitch of a round to keep track).
Continue to crocheting in dc spirals, increasing 3 dc at each end on next round and changing colors alternately, every 4 and 5 rounds.
When 40 rounds have been worked, work 15 rows on center 12 sts only for closing strip. To make up, work a dc round all around closing strip and opening edge. Fasten off. Sew snap fasteners.
Tablet case. Use Milo yarn and a 3.25mm crochet hook. Measurements are: 19cm in width, 24cm in height, 8.5cm x 12cm closing strip
Ch43 and, starting from 2nd ch from hook, make 1 dc in each ch until to last ch, 3 dc into last ch and continue to work 1 dc into each st on the opposite side, working 3 dc into last st. Continue to crocheting in spirals of dc, increasing 3 dc at each end on next round and changing colors alternately, every 6 and 7 rounds. When 68 rounds have been worked, work 22 rows on center 28 sts only for closing strip. To make up, work a dc round all around closing strip and opening edge. Fasten off. Sew snap fasteners.
Tote bag and clutch – A striped crochet combo
Use Fresh yarn and a 3.00mm crochet hook.
Tote bag. Measurements are: 32cm in width, 24cm in height, 5cm x 50cm handles.
Ch31 and, starting from 2nd ch from hook, make 1 dc in each ch until to last ch, 3 dc into last ch and continue to work 1 dc into each st on the opposite side, working 3 dc into last st. There are 64 dc. End this first round with 1 ss into first st. Continue to work in rounds of dc, ending each round with 1 ss into first st. At the same time, increase 3 dc at each end on following 14 rounds (6 more sts on each round 14 times = 148 dc) and changing colors every 3 rounds. When 76 rounds have been worked, divide work to create handles as follows: work 34 dc for right handle, ch100, miss 40 sts, work 34 dc for left handle, ch100, miss 40 sts, end this round with 1 ss into first dc. Work 15 more rounds. Fasten off.
Clutch. Measurements are: 23cm in width, 14.5cm in height.
Take zip-fastener and work a chain stitch base with yarn needle.
Now work a row of 30 ss along a side, ch3, continue on opposite side working a row of 30 ss, ch3, end with 1 ss into first stitch.
Next row: * 2 dc into next stitch, 1 dc into following stitch *; rep from * to * across first side, 5 dc into ch3-space, rep from * to * across other side, 5 dc into next ch3-space, end with a ss into first st.
Cont to work 45 rounds of dc, changing color every 3 rounds.
At the end, fold in half last row to have item flat and join side (lower side of clutch), with a row of dc (working together a dc on a side and corresponding dc on opposite side) or sew side seam with a yarn needle. Fasten off. Work a ring of chains inserting it into hole slider. Complete with a carabiner (or snap-hook).
